Mystery dumpling squishies, explained

A mystery dumpling is a squishy that comes sealed in a wrapper, so you don't know which one you got until you open it. Here's what's usually inside and why the glitter ones are such a big deal.

What is a mystery dumpling squishy?

It's a soft, slow-rising dumpling or bao squishy hidden in a wrapper or pouch. Every wrapper looks the same from the outside, so opening one is the fun part โ€” you might get a plain pastel dumpling, a printed face, a soup dumpling, or a rare sparkly edition.

Why glitter editions are the chase

Most dumplings come in soft plain colours. Glitter editions have sparkle mixed right through the squishy, and they turn up far less often โ€” which is exactly why other collectors will trade a lot for one.

In the club version, opening a sealed dumpling gives you a small chance at a glitter edition like Pastel Party or Galaxy Night, with confetti and a gold border when it drops.

Opening one without wrecking it

Open the wrapper at the seam rather than tearing across the squishy, keep the wrapper if you like collecting them, and give the squishy a minute to puff back up โ€” slow-rising ones arrive a bit squashed from the packet.

Open and trade them for free

You don't need to buy anything to try it: in the Squishy Trading Club you get free packs, unwrap sealed mystery dumplings on screen, and trade the ones you don't want for mochi animals or Nee Dohs.
